Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 Electric SUV Hits 1,000 Sales Milestone in India

Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 electric SUV has made a significant impact in India, surpassing 1,000 units in sales since its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. The COO of Hyundai Motor India, Tarun Garg, confirmed this milestone during the announcement of the company’s new Smart Care Clinic customer connect program. This achievement comes five months after the model achieved 500 retail sales, highlighting its popularity in the market.

Priced at ₹45.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Ioniq 5 is locally assembled, solidifying Hyundai’s presence in the luxury electric vehicle segment. Following the Kona Electric SUV, it competes with compact luxury SUVs within a similar price range. Based on the Hyundai Group’s E-GMP platform, shared with the Kia EV6, the Ioniq 5 boasts a distinctive design and a luxurious cabin. Its competitive pricing compared to its Kia counterpart has contributed to its robust sales.

Loaded with features, the electric SUV includes two 12.3-inch screens for the instrument console, a touchscreen infotainment system, voice assistant, powered tailgate, ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, an 8-speaker premium Bose sound system, Vehicle-2-Load (V2L) function, and more. Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, Engine Parking Brake, Electronic Stability Control, and Level-2 ADAS.

The Ioniq 5 is equipped with a rear axle-mounted PMS motor delivering 215 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, achieving a top speed of 185 kmph. In India, it features a 72.6 kWh battery pack offering an impressive ARAI certified range of 631 km on a single charge, with a rapid 10-80% charging capability in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC charger.
