Hyundai is launching its first electric car made in India, with a range of 400-500 kilometers.

Hyundai Motor India is set to roll out its first electric vehicle (EV) manufactured in India, with plans to introduce five such models by 2030. Expected to debut in 2025 alongside the establishment of a new manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu near Chennai, Hyundai’s move aligns with its focus on expanding the EV charging infrastructure.

The initial Made in India Hyundai EV might be the Creta EV, frequently spotted during testing. As one of Hyundai’s popular models, the electric variant is poised to offer a competitive edge, although specific details regarding its specifications remain undisclosed. Nonetheless, it’s anticipated to deliver an impressive range of 400 to 500 kilometers on a single charge.

Reflecting the increasing demand for EVs in the Indian market, Kia, Hyundai’s sister company, is also gearing up to launch a Made in India electric car. The Kia Seltos EV, spotted during testing, is expected to feature advanced powertrains and a robust battery pack.

Both the Hyundai Creta EV and Kia Seltos EV are projected to be priced between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh, challenging existing electric vehicle offerings in India from companies like Tata and MG.
