Tata Punch EV spied for the first time: Big changes revealed

It seems like Tata Motors is working on introducing a fully-electric version of the Punch in India, with the car now having been spied on test for the first time. The Punch EV has been spotted parked on a flatbed, featuring some noteworthy changes as compared to the ICE version of the micro SUV.

For starters, the overall shape and form of the car looks identical. However, upon looking closely, some significant new additions are highlighted. On the outside, the test mule features rear disc brakes – a feature that is missing on the regular Punch, or any other car at its price point for that matter.

A peek inside the cabin reveals other new elements like blue accents around the AC vents, a rotary-styled drive selector, a redesigned center console with an electronic parking brake and even a center armrest for the front passengers. The free-standing seven-inch infotainment screen seems to have been carried over.

No other details are available as of yet, but we expect the Punch EV to borrow its battery pack as well as electric motor from either the Tigor EV or the Tiago EV. A range of around 250 – 300 km can be expected from the upcoming electric car on a full charge. That said, the Tata Punch EV could go on to become the most affordable electric SUV in the Indian market upon arrival, and will directly rival the Citroen eC3 in the country.
