BYD has trademarked the “Seagull” for an upcoming electric hatchback in India, revealed at the Shanghai 2023 Motor Show. The launch date isn’t confirmed yet, but it’s aimed to compete with Tata Tiago EV, MG Comet EV, and Citroen eC3. The Seagull will offer two versions – Standard and Long range.
The former will come with a 76 bhp electric motor which will be powered by a 30 kWh battery pack. On a single charge it will deliver a range of 305 km.
The larger battery pack is having a capacity of 38 kWh which will deliver a driving range of around 405 km. This will also come with a more powerful electric motor which should be able to deliver around 98 bhp.
