Porche to launch new EV Macan in 2024

Porsche AG, a luxury automaker, expects that in India over the next ten years, electric vehicles will account for the majority of its sales. By 2030, fully electrified cars (EVs) are to account for 80% of sales in the nation, according to the sports car manufacturer.

Detlev vo Platen, a member of Porsche AG’s executive board responsible for sales and marketing, announced that the company intends to launch three new EVs in India by the beginning of next year. In addition, Platen stated in an interview with PTI that the business is aiming to boost its brand recognition in India and is concentrating on GenZ customers along with new startup entrepreneurs and women.

Notably, Porsche reported that 779 automobiles delivered in India in 2022, representing a 64% increase over the previous year. Platen mentioned that the company’s newest product, the Macan automobile, will be introduced in India in 2024. The unveiling of Porsche’s electric 718 will come after the introduction of the Macan, a completely electric vehicle. By the middle of this decade, the 718, a popular two-door sports car in India, would be fully electric. The Cayenne, which will follow the 718 and be an entirely new vehicle, will also be electrified, said Platen.

The board executive pointed out that India’s EV adoption rate will depend on infrastructural advancements including charging facilities. Porsche, though, continued to be “bullish about its future in India,” according to Platen.
