Ampere Electric just launched the Ampere Nexus electric scooter, priced at Rs 1.10 lakh.

Ampere Electric, a subsidiary of Greaves Cotton, has launched its newest electric scooter, the Ampere Nexus, priced at Rs 1.10 lakh. This marks the company’s most premium offering yet.

The Ampere Nexus is the fruition of the NXG concept revealed at Auto Expo 2023, albeit with substantial modifications. Positioned as a family-friendly vehicle with robust performance, it is entirely developed in-house and will be manufactured at the company’s facility in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu.

Featuring a 3kWh LFP battery, the Nexus boasts a certified range of 136km and is propelled by a mid-mounted motor capable of delivering a peak power of 4kWh, with a claimed top speed of 93kph.

Ampere asserts a charge time of 3.5 hours, although clarity is needed on whether this refers to a full recharge. Notably, the scooter activates a ‘Limp home’ mode when the battery level falls below 20 percent SOC.
Equipped with either a 6.2-inch LCD display or a spacious 7-inch color touchscreen, both controllable via unique handlebar-mounted controls, the Nexus offers Bluetooth connectivity and full-LED lighting. Additionally, it boasts five riding modes and a hill-hold feature.

Its suspension setup comprises a telescopic front fork and dual rear shock absorbers, complemented by a front disc brake and rear drum, rolling on 12-inch wheels fitted with 90/90 section tires. The company highlights a novel hybrid swingarm design housing the motor drivetrain, promising best-in-class NVH levels.

With a design tailored to appeal to a wide family-scooter demographic, the Ampere Nexus is available in four color options: Zanskar Aqua, Lunar White, Steel Grey, and Indian Red.

The Nexus comes in two variants, with prices starting at Rs 1.10 lakh for the base model featuring the 6.2-inch LCD screen. Meanwhile, the top-tier variant with a TFT display is priced at Rs 1.20 lakh. These are introductory rates, subject to a Rs 10,000 increase at an undisclosed later date. Bookings are now open, and deliveries are expected to commence by the end of May through Ampere’s network of over 400 outlets nationwide.
