Kinetic Green Zulu Electric Scooter Hits Indian Markets, Starting at Rs. 95,000

Kinetic Green strategically positions itself for the post-FAME subsidy era, unveiling the Zulu electric scooter with an innovative subscription model. Sulajja Firodia Motwani, the Founder and CEO, anticipates potential subsidy reductions and introduces a financial innovation to counteract the impact. The Zulu’s acquisition cost plummets from Rs 94,990 to Rs 69,000 through this model, providing consumers with a cost-effective alternative.

Motwani’s subscription approach, described as a “financial innovation,” involves bundling the scooter with a battery, enabling consumers to pay based on usage. Subscription prices range from Rs 600 to Rs 800 per month, promoting affordability and flexibility. She emphasizes the significant cost advantages of electric vehicles (EVs), projecting a 31% reduction in overall costs compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.

The Kinetic Zulu boasts a 2.2kw NMC battery, offering a range of 104 km and a top speed of 60 kmph. Kinetic aims to sell 40,000 Zulus through its 300 dealerships, with plans for aggressive network expansion, adding 300 dealerships annually and targeting 1200 by 2025. Motwani emphasizes Tier 2 and 3 cities as growth drivers, recognizing the substantial impact of savings on consumers in these markets.

In response to the burgeoning demand, Kinetic Green plans to establish its second manufacturing facility in Supa, near Ahmednagar, with a capacity of 1 million units and a total investment of Rs 500 crore. This strategic move aligns with the company’s commitment to advancing sustainable mobility solutions across India.
