Lotus Makes Grand Entrance into Indian Market with Eletre Electric SUV

English luxury sports car manufacturer Lotus has officially launched its foray into the Indian market with the introduction of the Eletre, an all-electric SUV priced at Rs 2.55 crore. This move positions the Eletre as the most powerful and expensive electric SUV available in the country.

The Eletre’s design showcases a cab-forward stance, a long wheelbase, and short overhangs, providing a sleek appearance. Drawing inspiration from Lotus’ historic mid-engined layout, the exterior features elements reminiscent of the Evija and Emira models. Notably, aerodynamic efficiency is prioritized with an active front grille and various air channels.

Inside the cabin, the Eletre boasts a tech-heavy environment with a 15.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system running on the ‘Lotus Hyper OS.’ The dashboard design mimics the rear spoiler and includes a dynamic ‘ribbon of technology.’ Physical toggle switches control key functions, ensuring a blend of digital and tactile interactions.

The powertrain lineup includes three versions: Eletre, Eletre S, and Eletre R, offering a choice between two dual-motor systems. The Eletre and Eletre S feature a 603hp setup with a 600km range, while the top-spec Eletre R boasts a 905hp, dual-motor configuration, a 490km range, and a remarkable 0-100kph time of 2.95 seconds.

Lotus emphasizes sustainability in the Eletre’s interior, incorporating materials like Kvadrat and a wool-blend fabric. Standard features include wireless charging, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and a premium sound system.

The Eletre’s Electric Premium Architecture allows flexibility for various car segments, battery sizes, and intelligent driving technologies. All variants feature all-wheel drive, active air suspension, and rapid charging capabilities, setting the Eletre apart as a performance-focused electric SUV without direct rivals.

Exclusive Motors in New Delhi will serve as the retailer and distributor, with the first showroom opening in early 2024. Lotus enthusiasts can also anticipate the launch of the Emira sportscar in 2024, marking the brand’s transition to an electric-only performance car lineup.
