Royal Enfield plans to launch an impressive electric vehicle (EV), but there’s no rush.

Royal Enfield, known for its Bullet motorcycles, aims to introduce an impressive electric vehicle but isn’t rushing the process. The company disclosed to ET Auto that it won’t unveil its electric motorcycle this fiscal year.

Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director of Eicher Motors, Royal Enfield’s parent company, emphasized their focus on achieving excellence over speed in developing the electric vehicle. He mentioned ongoing work on an in-house electric motorcycle and a collaboration with Stark Motorcycle, a Spanish startup, but refrained from setting a specific launch timeline.

Royal Enfield previously announced plans to launch its electric motorcycle by 2025. Lal discussed the challenges in electric motorcycle design, highlighting issues like heavier batteries and limited space, which currently make electric bikes expensive and less appealing than petrol alternatives.

Despite strategic investments in European electric motorcycle manufacturer Stark Future SL, Lal expressed caution regarding acquisitions, stating that the company isn’t actively pursuing them unless compelling opportunities arise.
