Skoda Enyaq EV Set to Debut in India at 2024 Bharat Mobility Show

Skoda is set to make its mark in India’s electric vehicle (EV) market with the debut of the Enyaq EV at the upcoming 2024 Bharat Mobility Show. This marks the Czech automaker’s first foray into dedicated Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) for the Indian market. The Enyaq, originally launched globally in 2022, is anticipated to be showcased as a top-spec All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variant, equipped with advanced features including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, dual digital displays, and luxurious leatherette upholstery.

The Indian variant of the Enyaq is expected to boast a robust range of approximately 500-550 kilometers, emphasising its commitment to meeting the country’s growing demand for electric mobility. The AWD configuration is anticipated to be available for at least one variant, catering to diverse preferences in the Indian market.

Skoda’s unveiling of the Enyaq at the Bharat Mobility Show is likely to be a highlight within the Volkswagen (VW) group’s exhibit, showcasing the brand’s electric prowess. The Enyaq’s features are expected to share similarities with its counterpart, the ID4 GTX, offering a glimpse into the technological advancements present in both vehicles.

In addition to showcasing the Enyaq, there is speculation that the VW group will use this platform to reveal its ambitious electric vehicle charging infrastructure plan for India. This strategic move aligns with the automotive industry’s broader shift towards sustainable mobility solutions.

Initially arriving as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), the Enyaq’s local assembly could become a reality based on market demand. If demand warrants, the assembly might take place at the group’s Aurangabad plant, potentially transforming it into the first Manufacturing Execution System (MES) platform-enabled facility for Skoda in India, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to an electric future in the region.
