Volvo Celebrates Electric Milestone with 31% sales in India

Volvo Cars in India experienced a notable surge in car sales during the calendar year 2023, marking a 31% increase compared to the previous year. The total sales reached an impressive 2,423 units, with the XC60 model playing a pivotal role in driving this growth. The XC60 witnessed a substantial surge, resulting in 921 deliveries, solidifying its position as the top-selling model.

A significant contributor to Volvo’s success was the locally assembled all-electric XC40 Recharge, which saw remarkable performance with 510 units sold during the same period. Additionally, the newly introduced C40 Recharge garnered positive attention, accounting for 180 units sold within a short timeframe, with Kerala and Tamil Nadu markets each witnessing 100 deliveries.

Jyoti Malhotra, the Managing Director of Volvo Car India, expressed enthusiasm about the impressive 31% growth, attributing it to heightened consumer confidence. The success of the XC40 Recharge and positive reception to the C40 Recharge underscored strong customer interest in the company’s electric models. Malhotra announced Volvo’s commitment to launching one new electric vehicle model every year, emphasizing their dedication to sustainable and innovative mobility solutions.

In September 2023, Volvo Cars introduced its second electric vehicle, the C40 Recharge, following the XC40 Recharge, further solidifying its position in the growing electric vehicle market in India. The robust sales performance reflects Volvo’s strategic focus on electric mobility and aligns with their vision for a sustainable automotive future.
