Xiaomi is now the 8th biggest electric car startup in China after their successful SU7 launch.

Following the successful launch of its SU7 sedan, Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone giant, has swiftly climbed the ranks to become the eighth-largest electric vehicle (EV) upstart in China. Industry data reveals that Xiaomi sold more than 7,000 units of the SU7 sedan in April alone, propelling it into this prominent position.

This accomplishment underscores Xiaomi’s significant entry into China’s bustling EV market, adding a new dimension to the landscape dominated by established players. Renowned for its popular smartphones and home appliances, Xiaomi’s expansion into EVs is poised to reshape the automotive industry further.

In China’s competitive EV sector, Xiaomi now stands alongside other emerging players like Nio and Xpeng, all focused on driving the electrification revolution forward. Notably, these newcomers represent a departure from traditional automakers and established EV manufacturers such as Tesla, BYD, and Geely.

April’s sales figures reflect Xiaomi’s rapid growth trajectory, with 7,058 SU7 sedans sold in its first full month of sales since the model’s launch in late March. With ambitious targets set for the year, Xiaomi aims to deliver over 100,000 units, translating to an average monthly sales target of 11,618 units for the remainder of the year.

Xiaomi’s impressive performance has displaced Avatr EV, a brand from state-owned Chongqing Changan Automobile, from the eighth position in China’s EV startup ranking. This analysis, based on monthly sales data from ByteDance’s Dongchedi car information platform, underscores Xiaomi’s remarkable ascent in the EV market.
